About Chateau Grand Traverse

A complete wine country experience awaits at Northern Michigan’s oldest winery. Since 1974, the O’Keefe family has been dedicated to growing and producing the highest quality wines from the soil of their Old Mission Peninsula home. Guests can enjoy a wide selection of wines, charcuterie, outdoor patio service, spectacular views, and overnight stays at their romantic Inn.

Open daily, year-round for wine tasting and sales.  We offer a spacious indoor standup bar area where guests may enjoy a guided wine tasting of their choice along with a dedicated server.  We do not offer reservations and operate on a first come, first served basis.  If possible, we kindly ask that tasting groups be limited to 4-persons for a better overall experience.  We offer a vast selection of 35+ premium varietal wines, fruit wines and unique blends.  Sorry, no winery tours are offered at this time.

  • Large outdoor patio area with 4-person tables and Adirondack Chairs (Capacity 70 people).
  • Relaxed atmosphere offering light background music, comfortable seating and umbrellas.
  • Scenic and south facing overlooking vineyards and West Grand Traverse Bay.
  • Limited outdoor covered area with roll downs and heaters.
  • Vast selection of wine by the glass as well as non-alcohol choices.
  • Small plates, crackers & spreads and charcuterie offered.
  • No wine flights offered at this time.
  • Please, no outside food or beverages are allowed. 
  • Well behaved dogs (on leashes) are welcome on the patio

This weekend, we're excited to celebrate not only the 4th of July, but also the return of the National Cherry Festival! 🍒🇺🇸 Here are a few things to keep in mind before you visit us: 🍷 We're open for wine tasting inside at the bar and wine by the glass and charcuterie on the patio from 11am-6pm, daily, including July 4th, and we are not taking any reservations. 🎇 Masks are not required, but we ask that you are kind and respectful to those around you, especially while inside the tasting room. ☀️ It's supposed to be beautiful this weekend. Remember to protect your wine from direct heat while traveling along the Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail, as wine can be damaged if left in a hot car too long! 🌭 Finally, like many others in the area, we are short staffed and do expect to be busy, so please plan for a wait and be patient with our amazing staff who are excited to serve you! Today’s view from the vines! 🌿🍇 We’ve nearly made it to the end of bloom. Fruit set will soon be well established and the pollinated flowers will form more small, green berries, which will eventually grow into individual grapes. Fruit set is the first indicator of how abundant (or not) harvest may be. Although we’re about 1-2 weeks ahead in vine growth, weather can still significantly affect the season. #UncorkYourNorth
